Across the world, hunger is on the rise. In countries facing conflict, climate change and extreme poverty, women and girls often eat last and least.

Of the 821 million hungry people on the planet, 60 percent are women.

Deep-rooted gender norms, man-made conflict and lack of equal rights mean that women go hungry more often than men.

Imagine being unable to own land, go to school or make your own health care decisions. Imagine losing your husband to war - as so many women do - and not knowing how you’ll feed your children. Imagine watching helplessly as your infant cries out because you haven’t eaten in days and have stopped producing the milk she needs.

It doesn’t have to be this way. YOU can make a difference.

More than half of all farmers are women, and if they had equal access to tools and resources, they could produce enough food to feed 100-150 million people. When women earn an income, they reinvest 90 percent of their earnings back into their families. Educated women have better health, marry and have children later in life, and have better economic opportunities.

Take action today. Be a hero for women in crisis. Sign our pledge to help end global hunger.
